Nestled at 1,890 meters(6,200 ft.) KAUSANI is situated in Bageshwar district in the state of Uttrakhand. Its famous for the spectacular 300 kms wide panaromic view of mighty Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul and Panchachuli. 123 kms from Nainital and 52 kms north of Almora this jewel in Kumaon kingdom lies amidst dense pine trees overlooking vast Someshwar valley on one side and Garur/Katyuri valley on the other.
It’s a lesser known hill station thus making it a perfect getaway for family and solo travellers. The calm and serene atmosphere, waking up to the chirping of birds and witnessing spectacular sunkissed mountain while sipping hot cup of tea/coffee will rejuvenate you. The fragrance of pine in the air will freshen you up. Evening offers the spellbinding view of changing colours of the entire Himalayan range because of the setting sun. The glittering lights in the vast valley at night is a sight to behold.
DAY 1 Kathgodam – Kausani (150 kms/5 hrs)
Vehicle will pick you up from Kathgodam railway station. The journey is exciting crossing lush green valleys and mountains. On the zig zag roads you will cross Bhowali, Bhimtal and while approaching Almora you will witness the snow capped mountains. From here Kausani is another 53 kms and by evening you will reach your destination. Overnight stay in hotel.
Today after having a hearty breakfast you will visit tea gardens and enjoy the fresh aroma of tea leaves. The well flavoured tea of Kausani Tea Estate is exported to U.S , Germany and Australia etc.
Anasakti Ashram, also known as Gandhi Ashram, is the next place to visit in todays itinerary. Mahatma Gandhi in 1929 spent two weeks meditating and wrote Anasakti yoga here. There is a small museum showcasing Gandhi ji’s photographs and his words. Overnight stay in hotel.

Today you will be visiting Rudradhari waterfall and temple. After breakfast vehicle will drop you to the point from where an easy hike of 2 kms through thick forest will lead you to the waterfall and temple.
There is a cave which is believed to be 2000 years old where Kaushik Muni meditated. Just outside temple is the waterfall. There is another trek of 6 kms which leads to Bada Pinnath, a vast high altitude meadow, however one should leave early morning to do the same.
After having breakfast you will be heading back to Kathgodam via Almora and Bhimtal. The vehicle will drop you at Kathgodam station by afternoon for your onward journey. The trip will terminate here.
