This trek is famous for the experience, joy and sense of accomplishment one gets after completing it. Walking/camping in snow and braving the sub zero temperature to reach the top of a mountain peak is something to stay in your memories forever. The 13 peaks of the Himalayan range visible from the Kedarkantha peak awaits your eyes to savour them…Swargarohini, Kalanag. Adding more to it is Juda lake which is enroute Kedarkantha. Its guarded by pine trees and the water is generally frozen in winter months. Although this trek is opened round the year but trekking in winter makes it more special.


DAY 1 Dehradun - Sankri (200 kms/8 hrs)

Upon arrival at Dehradun be prepared for a long but exciting journey. You will pass through beautiful hill station called Mussoorie and by Kempty falls entering Tons river valley. After crossing Purola and Mori 13 kms before Sankri lies Netwar. The checkpost is located to obtain the entry permits as the area beyond this point falls in Govind Wild Life Sanctuary. Sankri( 6233 feet) is a quaint village with few hotels and homestays but it serves as a gateway to some of the mindblowing and lesser known challenging treks. Throughout the year this place serves as the major entry and exit point for trekkers. Night stay at tourist rest house.

DAY 2 Sankri - Juda Lake (9100 feet/3 kms)

Today morning after the breakfast your trek will commence and the trail passes through the beautiful deodar, oak and pine forest and later widens up while approaching Juda Lake. This picturesque spot give views of beautiful snowclad peaks. Overnight stay in tents.

DAY 3 Juda Lake - Kedarkantha base camp (10600 feet/2kms)

Time to leave your warm and cozy sleeping bags, post breakfast the trek will start. You will cross dense forests of Oak and Pine trees witness some shepherd huts. It takes approx 4 hours to reach Kedarkantha peak base camp.

DAY 4 Base camp - Kedarkantha Summit(12500 feet) - Base camp (8 kms)

Much awaited and a long trekking day. Consequently, all the three days leading to the Kedarkantha summit involve constant ascent. Post breakfast the trek will commence and upon reaching the peak the grand vistas will greet you. The sense of accomplishment, views of majestic snowclad peaks of Yumnotri and Gangotri ranges, Swargarohini, Kalanag, Bandarpooch, Ranglana to name a few, will leave you speechless. After having lunch at the summit and soaking at the aura of the place for some time you will trek back to the base camp. Overnight stay in tents.

DAY 5 Base camp – Sankri via Hargaon (5 kms)

Last day of the trek via Hargaon on a well paved stony trail giving you some beautiful views of Har Ki Dun while decending through thick forest of pine & maple. Check into hotel at Sankri instead of rushing back to the polluted concrete jungles. Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 6 Sankri – Dehradun (200 kms/8 hrs)

After breakfast you will be hitting the road on a long journey with all the beautiful memories. Vehicle will drop you at Dehradun around 6 pm for your onward journey. The trek terminates here.
