Situated in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh this enchanting valley has a lot to offer to the nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts. Running eastwards through a steep sided valley from the town of Bhuntar this valley got its name from the pristine Parvati river which is a confluence of Beas river. This valley is thick forested and has some excellent long and short trekking options. Often referred to as ’Mini Israel’ because of the young Israelis throng here in large numbers specially in summers. It has gained popularity over the period of years and is a hub for numerous invigorating activities. The famous Kheerganga (2960 meters) and notorious Pin Parvati pass (5300 meters) treks are on to do list of backpackers. Hiring an experienced guide before embarking on any treks is advisable. The notable places in this valley are Malana, Tosh, Rashol, Kalga, Pulga and Tulga which are tucked away from the hustle bustle of other crowded places. Parvati valley is beautiful beyond words and will truly rejuvenate you.


KASOL is on the way between Bhuntar (31 kms) and Manikaran gurudwara (5 kms) .Famous for its hippie culture this place nestles at 1580 meters and pristine Parvati river gushes through it. It also a hotspot for backpackers as it’s the base for trekking to Malana (further up Chandrakhani Pass) and Kheerganga. One can enjoy camping next to the river or stay in budget to luxurious hotels. It has pleasant weather throughout the year and receives fair amount of snowfall from late December to February.


At 2400 meters TOSH has some breathtaking views of lofty snow giants guarding the villages in the valley. Its just 20 kms ahead on the far end of Parvati valley and unlike Kasol its much rustic and non commercialized. Waking up to the views of snow peaks and lush green valleys truly quenches the thirst of nature lovers. Don’t expect luxurious hotels or stays here but enjoy the natural surroundings and also be mindful of the culture and heritage of the locals ingenuous people.


A short and beautiful trek through lush green valley will lead you to isolated Kutla which sits at 2750 meters. The last one km is of steep gradient which later opens up to a wide valley and you will get mesmerized by the beauty and calmness of this place. There is just one basic yet comfortable staying option made from wood and stones for visitors and a local runs it. Trekkers sit here and enjoy the views while sipping hot tea/coffee and proceed further deep in the valley or retrace their steps back to Tosh.


Another short one hour trek ahead deeper in this alluring valley on a muddy trail through lush green forest which suddenly opens up to a green plain grassland called Buddhaban campsite. Pristine river gushing down the valley, tall trees around and the thick forest across adds more beauty to this place. This astounding place serves as a base for mind blowing treks further deep inside the valley such as Valley of flowers, Sara Umga and Kutla Sor lake. There are no manmade structures here so its advisable to carry own tents and food for an overnight stay.


DAY 1 BHUNTAR – KASOL (31 kms/ 1 ½ hrs)

The vehicle will pick you up from Bhuntar bus stand and zig zagging on the road on the left bank of Parvati river you will reach Kasol. Check into campstay/hotel. Today you can sit on the banks of Parvati river or visit the market. Overnight stay in campstay/hotel.

DAY 2 KASOL – TOSH ( 20 kms/ 1 hr)

Today after hearty breakfast you can visit nearby famous Manikaran Gurudwara which is a Sikh pilgrimage place and take a dip in natural hot water springs. Time to move on as zig zagging in the vehicle on the right bank of Parvati river the valley becomes narrower and the views of snow peaked mountains while approaching Barsheni will delight you. Another half an hour drive will suddenly open to a wide area and here you will bid goodbye to your vehicle. In front is Tosh village overlooking lofty snow giants. A short trek upwards through this rustic yet beautiful village will take you to your hotel followed by an overnight stay.


Today after hearty breakfast on a muddy trail through a beautiful vast valley you will trek all the way up to Buddhaban campsite via Kutla where a hot cup of tea/coffee followed by nutritious meal awaits you. The quiet and tranquil atmosphere of this place will rejuvenate you as your phone signals are not available here thus it helps to connect better with nature. Capture the beautiful flora and fauna, visit the nearby pristine river and meditate here. Bonfire time in the evening followed by hearty dinner and slipping in your cosy sleeping bags is all you need now. Over night camping.


Today you will wake up to the chirping of the birds followed by hearty breakfast. Time to wind up and you will trek back all the way to Tosh where hot lunch awaits you. You will trek down till the taxi stand from where vehicle will pick and drop you at Bhuntar for your onward journey. This memorable trip will terminate here.
